From poking fun at other movies to lampooning Jewish stereotypes himself, Mel Brooks has pulled out all of his old tricks in Robin Hood: Men in Tights. The previews for this movie did not really interest or impress me at all. In fact, I went to this movie only half-interested with a friend who claimed that it would be a good movie. The PG rating worried me, and I was afraid it would be another poorly done movie. I mean, dragons in the future??
However, the previews didn't really say anything about the great acting, touching scenes, and great overall story and concept. What a surprise this movie was! Matthew McConnaughy does a great job, and I could only really half-believe it was him through the whole movie! He plays such an interesting character ... and then the highly rated Christian Bale lives up to his previous acting job... a brilliant performance on his part.
I really was impressed with this movie. It's a wonderful post-apocalyptic movie that explains the demise of the dinosaurs, and brings a whole new element to the evolution and recycling of life on planet Earth. Everything in this movie was great, and sci-fi fantasy fans, you MUST SEE THIS MOVIE!!
A few complaints though, no nothing too bad really.. just nitpicky: 1) a poor directing decision on filming parts of the dragon's eyesight perspective; this kind of technique is shabby, but luckily, it was for only 2 quick shots. 2) They should have explained how the tanks and helicopters get their fuel. 3) The end line was a little silly, something to do with evolution? Huh? 4) Where did all the female dragons go at the end? They just seem to dissapear... maybe an extra 2 minute scene there could have helped to explain the final demise of the dragons.
In present-day London, 12-year-old Quinn watches as his mother accidentally wakes a fire-breathing dragon from a centuries-long slumber. Twenty years later, dragons have scorched the Earth and nearly destroyed civilization. Quinn (Christian Bale) joins a radical revolutionary, Van (Matthew McConaughey), who claims to know a way to kill the race of creatures.

The combination of Disney and Pixar never ceases to amaze, but with Ratatouille, their newest effort, animated features are brought to new heights with the best one to date. Ratatouille is stunning, surreal while at the same time realistic, and a joy to watch. The writing is, in one word, just amazing, and the voice acting is sensational. The characters are poetic and real, and the rats are some of Disney/Pixar's cutest creations. Ratatouille is written and directed by Brad Bird (The Incredibles), and features stellar voice acting from Peter O'Toole, Patton Oswalt, Ian Holm, Brian Dennehy, Lou Romano, Brad Garrett, and Janeane Garofalo.
Remy (voiced by Patton Oswalt) is a little rat who dreams of becoming a chef just like his idol, the human Gusteau (voiced by Brad Garrett). After a mishap, Remy loses his family in the sewers and comes upon a fading restaurant that had previously been owned by Gusteau before his untimely death. He comes upon a lowly garbage boy, Linguini (voiced by Lou Romano), and together they set out to revive the once-legendary restaurant.

Suite à une procédure d'éloignement judiciaire exigée par son père, Thierry Chartier, 18 ans, vit chez sa grand-mère dans petit village du Nord de la France. Il travaille dans les champs et se verrait bien reprendre la ferme. Pour améliorer l'ordinaire, Thierry et son ami Rouillé - le paria du village - volent, pour le compte de restaurateurs, de la viande dans l'abattoir alentour.
Un soir, en l'absence de Rouillé, Thierry libère tous les porcelets enclavés. S'il cache son forfait à son complice, la nouvelle se répand vite dans le canton. Un de leurs clients en profite et tente de les arnaquer. Rouillé perd la tête, Thierry ne peut l'arrêter. Rouillé abat le restaurateur.
Après cinq ans de réclusion criminelle pour complicité de meurtre, Thierry, muni d'un diplôme d'anglais, d'un tatouage supplémentaire et d'une culpabilité à jamais ancrée, peut bénéficier d'une liberté conditionnelle s'il retourne vivre chez ses parents. Il travaille sur les marchés, devient la mascotte des routiers, quand l'adversité le rattrape.
Il est témoin d'un meurtre. Le commandant de police en charge de l'affaire l'accuse. Si Thierry se révolte contre l'évidence, sa seule lutte possible est la cavale. Il échoue dans une petite station balnéaire où il croise la route de Fontaine, un cafetier qui ne veut rien savoir…
