GABRIEL
GABRIEL tells the story of an archangel who fights to bring light back to purgatory - a place where darkness rules - and save the souls of the city's inhabitants
The saving grace, no pun intended, of this film is the main actor: Andy Whitfield. His acting almost saves the film, almost. The bad directing in some (some? scratch that, most) scenes, the 80's reminiscent evil bad guy, and the horrendously boring acting by most of the cast makes me very surprised by how many people actually stayed in the theater. That said, there were some performances that were really great (balanced out by some really bad). Also, while this film is a low-budget film, you wouldn't guess it from the action sequences. They are good, but nothing audiences haven't seen before.
My advice: watch it on DVD. That way you can fast-forward through the boring bits and get the same thrills for only an hour, instead of two.
This is the type of film that makes me wish MST3K was still around, then it might be worth seeing again.
